In 1973, coinciding with his engagement by Radio Avon as a DJ, Paul joined up with a Christchurch pop
group called Just Us.  He remained on board with this group until his decision to depart to Sydney in 1977.

The original Just Us line-up was Peter Talbot (Vocals), Paul Talbot (Rhythm Guitar and Vocals), Bevis Thompson (Bass Guitar), Ian Smillie (Lead Guitar), Murray Wright (Drums), and they had released one single on the Master label in 1969 called "We're Still Alone" / "Hippy Hippy Shake".  This combination continued for a couple of years until a friend (Dixon McIvor) was invited to join the group along with another Radio Avon DJ (John Campbell) on keyboards.  That line-up remained in place until Paul Muggleston departed for Sydney, Australia in 1977.  The group played regularly at the Shirley Lodge Hotel and Imperial Hotels - with occasional jaunts to do out-of-town shows at the likes of Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook by special arrangement.  Sadly no live recordings from this period are known to exist.

From the inception of Just Us the following line-up changes occurred  —  Dixon McIvor took over as vocalist from the Talbot brothers, Kevin Powell replaced Bevis Thompson on bass, Paul Muggleston replaced Ian Smillie on lead guitar and also assumed vocal duties.  On drums, Murray Wright was replaced by Dave Olson for a short while, until he too was replaced by Paul Humphries.

The soundclip is of the Harry Nilsson song "Without You" which features Paul Talbot on lead vocal.  This the only recording from Paul Muggleston's era with Just Us.  It was arranged and produced by Paul Muggleston, who also featured on the recording.
