Blasters from the past tune up ..... The attic of a Christchurch suburban house rocked last night as five members of former 1960s bands got together for the first time in more than 20 years. Christchurch Press - Thursday, August 12th, 1993 - an article by Howard Keene A blast of nostalgia echoed in Christchurch last night as five members of 1960s bands got together for the first time in more than 20 years.   The connections read like a Who's Who of early New Zealand Rock Music ... The Invaders, Max Merritt and The Meteors, The Dynamics, The Secrets, The Opposition.   The arrival in town of Paul Muggleston for a Radio Avon Reunion sparked the get together.   Muggleston, who runs an advertising agency in Los Angeles and writes and produces music, said playing again with his old mates was exciting.   All five worked together in differing combinations with local bands between 1963 and 1966 and supported overseas acts like The Searchers, Peter and Gordon, Del Shannon, and Herman's Hermits.   For drummer Pete Ward, aged 52, they were good times - and there was no such thing as the opposition.  "Even though we were playing in opposition bands we were all good mates, and helped each other."   Last night was a practice.  Tonight will be the big one as the five get together with another 25 old rockers to jam at The Christchurch Musicians Club.
